One of the biggest factors in marketing these days is the effectiveness of the content that is used to generate leads. From email campaigns to videos, high quality content and having a good content creation strategy separates a successful business from a failing one. If you’re not an expert in marketing or specifically in content creation, then this could be an area that you struggle with. Don’t be over-whelmed if you feel this is an area of mystery to you, you can pick up some simple tricks to create good content and soon see this convert into sales.

Your website is your online shop window so if you don’t have one, get one as soon as you can. Most people do online research about a product or business before they make a purchase so if you don’t have a website then you will be completely overlooked. Setting up a website doesn’t have to be expensive and there are lots of templates on WordPress and other platforms that can be used rather than paying for a bespoke site and paying thousands to a developer.

Okay, so you have your website, now what should you have on there? Of course all of the usual things need to be easy to find; contact details, list of services etc. but you also need to make sure that your content stays fresh and engaging. Creating a blog is an easy way to increase your audience reach and it will also generate new content that search engines use to rank how high up your website appears in the search.

Write a regular blog either weekly or fortnightly to keep people coming back to your website on a regular basis. What is really important here is that you are creating content that people (most importantly your target audience) will find useful and you can see that they are searching for.

For example, if you are a landscape gardener, unless you are a celebrity, people probably don’t want to read about what you had for dinner or what you are going to buy your wife for her birthday. It can be good to build up an element of personalization as you get further along and have built up a good following for your blog but stick to the information that is related to your services at first.

So as a landscape gardener, maybe you could do a step-by-step video of how to lay a new lawn. You can then upload it to Newsflare or any similar platform where it can reach a large audience globally. Now, this could appeal to a lot of people who might be looking to do this themselves, but due to lack of knowledge, they’d seek the help of a professional instead. Or they may use your video for directions and then later come to you for further work that is of a more complex nature.

Content creation is what drives potential customers to seek your services, so spend time developing a great content creation strategy and see how quickly you start to see the benefits.
